It is not idiomatic "to give" a class. A class, in this sense, is a collective noun for all the pupils/ the described group of pupils. "Our class went to the zoo."

You can both deliver and give a class rein British English, but both words would be pretentious (to mean to spend time with a class trying to teach it), and best avoided in my view. Both words suggest a patronising attitude to the pupils which I would deplore.

Actually, they keep using these two words just like this all the time. Hinein one and the same Liedtext they use "at a lesson" and "in class" and my students are quite confused about it.
